I'm Tisha. Five years ago, after decades in corporate learning and development and in the middle of taking my Master of Education, I was hit with a six-figure job loss. Not exactly the way I expected to jump into the entrepreneurial lane! In fact, I had zero desire to work for myself until that point. You see, even though I began my work-life jumping from one awful entry-level labour job to another, I was later fortunate to have been head-hunted multiple times for management roles. And I got used to the security, the salary, the benefits, the pension plans.
No longer addicted to a regular paycheque though, a funny thing started to happen. The feeling that something more was in store for me grew louder and louder. So with smart decisions and a little hard work, I started a business without borrowing a dime, flew past my former pay level, and quickly grew my company, shiftED Academy - to the point where I took half of this summer off while my team kept the business running.

Councillor Pam Lovelace has been a member of the Regional Council since 2020, following a twenty-year career in communications and project management. She was appointed by the Council as Deputy Mayor of Halifax for a term from 2021-2022.
A graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree and Certificate in Business Administration, she worked for CBC Maritimes in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick producing television and online programming. Pam has worked in various communications and project management roles with federal, provincial, and municipal governments. She has a master’s degree in adult education, worked with Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Health, and as an adjunct professor at Mount Saint Vincent University.
Pam is a recipient of Volunteer of the Year awards from both Halifax and the Province of Nova Scotia, among other recognition, including the Canada 150 Sesquicentennial Pin and Minister of Veteran Affairs Commendation. Pam sits on various local, regional, and national boards and committees.
